About Us
This project will help youths understand their past, so they can appreciate where they are now, to plan ways to successfully navigate their future.
Project activities will support the mental health of young people to encourage youths to talk about their fears and share concerns with others. Our research shows these fears lead Black youths arming themselves for perceived self-protection. We hope this will reduce the numbers of knife carriers in disadvantaged communities.
Our initial focus is on young people from west Kilburn’s Black community to reduce Black youths fear of:
- Being stabbed
- Feeling they need knives & gangs for protection
- Restricted visions about what their true potential really is.
We want to instil self-pride in the young people with an increased realisation that their lives are worth much more than gang culture.
